Rainbow Six Siege is no stranger to seasonal themed events. Last year the game celebrated popular holidays with in-game events like Sugar Fright, which turned Rainbow Six Siege Operators into puppets, and a Holiday Pack that gave players a free Operator. However, one event that did not take place last year was the Rainbow is Magic event celebrating April Fools Day. This event started in 2019 and basically let players get all sorts of goods splashed with gaudy neon colors to make everyone feel just a bit happier.

It was a surprisingly popular event back in 2019 and now developer Ubisoft Montreal has decided to bring it back for 2021. The Rainbow is Magic event is live right now and is the latest change to Rainbow Six Siege following the Crimson Heist Update. For a limited time last week Xbox made Rainbow Six Siege free-to-play for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members, and that decision combined with the Crimson Heist Event caused players to flood into the game. The Rainbow is Magic event will probably draw crowds as well considering all the new stuff players can get as part of the event.

The Rainbow is Magic event runs from March 30 to April 5 and provides players with the opportunity to play an event-specific game mode and buy new colorful skins for Operators and weapons in Rainbow Six Siege. The hostage game mode from 2019 is back and tasks players with guarding or trying to free a person in a teddy bear costume. Players will be navigating the Presidential Plane map (Air Cute One), which is now smaller and decked out in neon signs and unicorn drawings.

For Operator and weapons skins, Blackbeard, Montagne, Smoke, and Tachanka will all have bundles available to purchase with Rainbow Six Siege credits. Each bundle costs 2160 credits and comes with a headgear piece, uniform, weapon skin, and charm per Operator. Some standout pieces are Montagne's Fuchsia Flutter Headgear, which gives him two floppy antennae, and Tachanka's The Unicorn Headgear, which is just a rainbow faceguard with a massive unicorn horn. Players can also gun down opponents with bedazzled versions of the SR-25 and the MK17 CQB.

In 2019 the Rainbow is Magic event was so loved by fans that Ubisoft Montreal extended it for another week. There's no indication so far if that will happen again, but if players flock to the hostage game mode and starting buying up Operator bundles there's a good chance the event will be extended. The Crimson Heist launch set a concurrent player record in Rainbow Six Siege, and though the Rainbow is Magic event may not match the previous player totals, it's going to be one glittery ride for fans.

Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
