In its third year of post-launch support, Rainbow Six Siege continues to defy expectations as its popularity and player base have broken new milestones. Following on the heels of Operation Chimera, Ubisoft has revealed that the second season of content in year 3 is going to focus on Italy and its famed Gruppo di Intervento Speciale unit. While Operation Para Bellum won't have a new co-op mode to replace the zombie-inspired content from the previous season, Para Bellum adds two new Italian Operators as well as a map based in a beautiful villa. After releasing a couple of teaser trailers, fans now know exactly what the two new characters are bringing to the game.

To balance out the roster, both Italian operators joining the Rainbow Six Siege roster are defensive characters, and each one brings a unique a gadget with them which is surely going to shift the current meta. First up is Alibi who is able to place three holographic decoys. While they can't hurt opposing players, simply touching them or shooting them will mark the player for the next few seconds. Interestingly enough, the decoy will always appear with Alibi's default loadout and clothing, so players should keep that in mind when hunting for the real player.

On the other hand, Maestro takes cameras to a whole new level. Known as the Evil Eye, Maestro players can place these heavy duty cameras on floors or walls. By default, these are bulletproof,  can see through smoke, can mark opposing players, and allows teammates to utilize them. However, Maestro can open a hatch on them allowing them to shoot damaging laser bursts at enemy players. In order to get rid of them, players need to use explosives, destroy the surface they're on, use Sledge to bash them or shoot them when the laser shutter is open.

In addition to Alibi, Maestro, and the new Villa map, Operation Para Bellum is bringing a few gameplay tweaks with it as well. While used heavily in Pro League events, the Pick & Ban system is finally making its way to all Rainbow Six Siege players. This custom game option adds a new layer of strategy to matches as teams essentially pick two Operators on each side to ban during the pre-game phase. Both sides take turns selecting two operators to ban once spawn and site selections are complete, with the final option to activate a sixth pick to swap out one of their already-chosen Operators.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
