Rainbow Six Siege Trailer Offers Look at Operation Skull Rain Map

Ubisoft releases a new trailer for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, revealing more of the upcoming Brazilian Favela map included in the Operation Skull Rain update.

It’s been almost three months since the last major update for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. which means the next scheduled content drop is coming soon. After fans were able to get their hands on new Canadian and American operators in the first two downloadable content packs, Ubisoft finally revealed that the third expansion will focus on the country of Brazil and their Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais special forces unit. While the two operators have yet to be shown off in full, a short new trailer gives fans their first look at the upcoming free map.

While not a full fledged trailer for the Operation Skull Rain DLC, the short trailer provides a fly through of the new map, revealing many of the new key points detailed in yesterdays announcement. The favela map promises to be even more focused on close quarters action as the dense urban environment gives players additional options to venture to the rooftops, or utilized the increased opportunity for destruction to take opponents by surprise. Familiar Brazilian sights – such the huge statue on the hill known as Christ the Redeemer – can also be seen, complete with fireworks and a transition to night.

Fans looking for even more details behind Operation Skull Rain will need to tune in to the live demo Ubisoft has planned on July 30 prior to the Xbox One pro league finals at 3am CET/7pm PST.

As revealed yesterday, Operation Skull Rain also includes one new offensive and defensive character, both from the BOPE unit in Brazil. Just like Operation Dust Line which introduced a number of new gameplay changes, this third DLC pack aims to do the same. A new angled grip attachment will enable players to switch from hip firing to aimed sights much faster than previously, while the newly cleaned up Ranked matches can now also be surrendered early if the team votes for it.

The last major change coming in this update is a brand new gameplay mode not for the faint of heart. Known as Tactical Realism Mode, it essentially strips away many of the HUD elements and notifications like kill confirmations and enemy marking, giving players a more authentic and tactical experience.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The Operation Skull Rain expansion arrives on August 2, at which point the two new operators will be exclusive to season pass holders for the first seven days.
