Take any FPS game, place them side by side, and any player will see the same mechanics in different "skins." However, players love Rainbow Six Siege for retaining this core FPS "formula" while adding Rainbow Six's signature tactical edge. As a result, Siege gives players a compelling FPS experience. Additionally, the game's tactical component of operator abilities, destructible environments, and fully-customizable loadouts make each match equally exciting.

Unfortunately, newbies interested in Siege might feel overwhelmed with the number of gameplay options they have.  So, for players who feel like there's too much to cover regarding Siege's basics, it might help to "feel" the game with some of the most helpful operators for newbies and avoiding some complex operators.

10 Pick: Hibana (Attacker)

Newbies interested in testing Siege's destructible environments should definitely try out Hibana. The X-Kairos Launcher lets Hibana blast through reinforced surfaces, making her a Hard Breacher. Moreover, Hibana can use one of three X-Kairos charges and detonate them remotely, letting her create holes for crawling, vaulting, and walking.

However, Hibana should also consider opening many walls to impose limitations on opposing Defender operators. Additionally, her breaching capabilities also make Hibana an operator for more skilled players. Gamers who want to go pro in Siege should train with Hibana, as mastery with her tools require in-depth knowledge of maps and using this to the team's advantage.

9 Don't Pick: Amaru (Attacker)

Amaru relies on speed, making her capable of zipping through different points of the map before dishing out ranged damage. Additionally, thanks to her Garra Hook, she can reach multiple heights and strike many opponents from positions otherwise unreachable.

Unfortunately, the Garra Hook recharges for eight seconds, making Amaru unable to make rapid "zips." Moreover, Amaru holsters her weapons throughout the ride, meaning eagle-eyed opponents can trace her direction. Lastly, the Hook tends to be noisy, giving enemies a signal where Amaru might be coming from.

8 Pick: Thermite (Attacker)

Alongside Hibana is Thermite, another Hard Breacher. However, unlike Hibana, Thermite's charges are much broader and larger, which can render most reinforcements useless.

While Thermite only has two breach charges, he's also capable of removing other set charges in the game. This ability makes him capable of Breach Denial.

Newbies might love experimenting with the interplay between Thermite and Defenders. Ideally, Defenders will want Hard Breachers like Thermite to waste their breach charges. However, Thermite players can try to fool Defenders into thinking they'll misuse their utility charges.

7 Don't Pick: Blitz (Attacker)

Players looking for a unique Attacker might appreciate Blitz. Unlike other long-ranged attackers, Blitz faces foes head-on with his shield. Aside from bullet-blocking abilities, Blitz can activate a Flash Shield that blinds opponents that try to get close to him.

Moreover, Blitz has a Shield Sprint ability that enables him to make a speedy escape despite his heavy shield. Unfortunately, the versatile nature of Blitz might be overwhelming for beginners. His close-quarters skills and shield offense makes him a formidable foe. However, newbies might leave themselves open for attacks when they fail to use Blitz correctly.

6 Pick: Bandit (Defender)

Bandit fits newbies who want to use a Defender that possesses enough firepower to defend points but also has enough speed to make a run for sticky situations.

Bandit has four Batteries (Shock Wires) that he can link with defensive gadgets and reinforced surfaces, such as deployable shields and barbed wires. His Batteries can also "shock" gadgets, rendering them useless. As such, Bandit's Batteries can disable breach charges or intel-gathering gadgets. With these abilities, Bandit also serves Anti-Intel and Breach Denial roles, making him quite a flexible Defender for any team.

5 Don't Pick: Fuze (Attacker)

Fuze serves as one of the deadliest Attackers in Siege, thanks in part to his Cluster Charges. As a Disruptor, Fuze's main role is to cause havoc on the battlefield, especially during clashes.

His Cluster Charges come in the form of five mini-grenades, all capable of killing operators and hostages. They're also capable of destroying nearby utility gadgets, making them perfect to disrupt the flow of enemy operators.

As a slow walker, Fuze demands players to know precisely what they're doing, and the dangerous nature of his utility makes him capable of accidentally killing his allies.

4 Pick: Mute (Defender)

New players will love Mute for the flexibility and ease-of-access his utilities give him. He possesses four Signal Disruptors capable of interfering with electronic devices that Attackers regularly use. Mute's jammers can be placed on horizontal surfaces such as tables, boxes, and floors. Thanks to these perks, Mute serves both Anti-Intel and Breach Denial roles.

As such, Mute players essentially stop drones from gathering intel for opponents, and they can stop the usage of charges when placed near walls. Moreover, Mute's utility enables him to customize his loadout much easily, giving him free rein from using more mid-range assault weaponry or long-range combat.

3 Don't Pick: Clash (Defender)

Players looking for a powerful Defender can find one in Clash, as his giant shield covers the entirety of his front. Clash possesses the Crowd Control Electro Shield, making him resistant to most frontal gunfire and disrupt enemies with his AOE taser.

When Clash encounters enemies, his taser not only damages them over time, it also slows them down and leaves them open for attack. Unfortunately, players might feel hindered when using Clash. His shield ability prohibits him from going melee or even using guns while it's activated. While he's capable of immobilizing enemies with his taser, his slow speed demands players to position Clash carefully or risk being eliminated while escaping.

2 Pick: Kaid (Defender)

Kaid shows just how versatile Defenders can get in Siege. His utility gives him access to Electroclaws called "Rtila" that electrifies metal surfaces.

Thanks to these abilities, Kaid specializes in Anti-Intel and Breach Denial roles. He can place his Electroclaws on hatches and walls, preventing Breachers from destroying certain points. Moreover, "electrified" gadgets and utilities get destroyed permanently.

However, his skillset doesn't exactly make him a newbie-friendly operator at the onset. Regardless, the sheer flexibility and versatility of his loadout and utility combinations make him worth mastering, as he can easily wreak havoc on battlefields.

1 Don't Pick: Tachanka (Defender)

Tachanka is one of the more interesting Defenders in Siege, in that he possesses a turret with a shield that protects the upper half of his body. His RP-46 Degtyaryov machine gun is mounted on his deployable shield, letting him fortify windows and other chokeholds. Since his lower body is vulnerable, Tachanka should use this in places with a solid cover.

Playing Tachanka can annoy a lot of newbies, primarily due to the rather "vulnerable" nature of his utility. Since his turret shield only covers his upper half, he's open to damage. Moreover, this forces players to extensively think about proper turret placement that gives them a great vantage point for defense but also enables him to be mobile.
