Ubisoft's tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege has been making waves in the competitive scene, which has made it one of the most popular games on Steam. Now, the latest expansion called Extraction has dropped, which is a part of a jam-packed January for games releases. For new players who want to skip out on the competitive PVP playstyle but want to still try out the tactical side of shooters, Extraction is a perfect match.

The main thing that separates the two titles is how they play, with Extraction being only PVE — players and their squad deal with aliens rather than other players. Extraction is also a good way to farm XP, and players will level up faster if they use these tips because it'll help them play better.

Use Stealth Takedowns

In most shooters, the more aggressive the player gets, the more XP they earn, and this is the case for Rainbow Six Extraction. While killing the aliens gives players XP, the amount changes when they use stealth, and the more players who do this during each round, the faster the XP bar will go up.

The good thing about this tip is that players' guns are usually equipped with silencers by default, so getting those sneaky kills early on should be prioritized. Plus, it gives a chain reaction when other players start doing it, making the overall XP gain a lot more.

Complete The Studies

These are side challenges that players can complete in order to get more XP after each match. Each region has a set of nine studies with three challenges in each set. These are great ways to get milestone XP, which is the overall XP for players, and operator XP, which is XP gained by the specific operator that the player is using. These challenges can be quite easy like killing a certain number of enemies or doing supplementary tasks.

These studies can be unlocked one by one and, while doing one study doesn't give high XP, they do stack up and can be easy to do. If players consistently try to complete those studies, they should be leveling up a lot quicker than players who don't.

Play On A Higher Difficulty

The harder the Rainbow Six Extraction gets, the more rewarding it becomes. Everything is worth more as players increase the difficulty. While Rainbow Six Siege can be seen as a game for newcomers, Extraction seems to be a little harder than its counterpart, because enemy AI has been ramped up.

The good thing about going up to a higher difficulty is that players don't need to grind as much. For example: completing studies can be finished in one round as opposed to multiple on a lower difficulty because the studies give players more XP. It isn't just about XP though — playing on a higher difficulty in Rainbow Six Extraction helps players get better, and with that, they can XP faster in other ways, too.

Choose The Right Operator

One of the best things that made Rainbow Six Siege such a good tactile shooter is how much range in content it gave players, from the operators and what they can do to how the game itself is played. Everything in the game feels like it's giving players something, which can be attributed to why it's so competitive.

Rainbow Six Extraction follows that same path, the operators make in the game, just like in the original version, and each offers something different. Additionally, they can benefit the player, provided if the player knows how to use them. Pairing them with some powerful weapons not only amplifies certain abilities, but it makes taking down those aliens even easier, yielding even more XP.

Scan For Intel

This tip is only useful for players who pick an operator who can scan intel, like Echo. Players can use the scan to see what the aliens are up to and plan accordingly with their team. This may not seem like a big deal to most, but it pays off overall.

Scanned enemies to give more XP, even if they're alerted, so it's a good idea for players to scan if they can do it. On top of that, Echo has a drone with offensive capabilities, so players who obsessively use those drones can passively get XP even when they're not doing anything.

Complete Extra Objectives

Apart from the studies and main objectives, each round has side things to do, which can reward players even more XP on top of what they're already doing. However, these objectives can be hard to do, and if players fail, they lose out a large amount of XP.

While harder to do, they do give players a lot of XP and are usually more generous than most other challenges. While new players may turn away from these extra activities, it's recommended that they should try to finish them when possible. Players who are more experienced with Rainbow Six's playstyle shouldn't find it too difficult.

Rainbow Six Extraction is now available on the Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, Stadia, and Luna
