Game announcements are a special moment in the spotlight for developers, a time where they finally get to unveil the project they've spent years working on. Unfortunately, leaks are a thing that happen, which can be a pretty massive buzzkill for everyone involved. Last year, Walmart Canada accidentally leaked a few different games right before E3 2018, including Rage 2. And while this may have put a damper on the actual announcement, the two companies are now making light of the incident in a creative way.

Wal,art Canada will be offering a unique pre-order bonus for Rage 2 customers in the form of a special slipcover. The alternate cover will show the original black background and white text of the leak's placeholder cover, alongside the special text that the official Rage 2 Twitter account edited onto it shortly after the leak. It's a pretty awesome collaboration, and at least shows that there are no hard feelings between the two companies.

So far RAGE 2 looks like it may be an improvement over the last entry. The colorful post-apocalyptic setting may have already been done by Far Cry: New Dawn, but Bethesda is promising a big open world with a lot of interesting weapons. Plus, Rage 2 won't have load times, so the game will offer technical improvements, too.

It is a tad bit disappointing that the slipcover won't be coming to any other regions, though it would likely be pretty easy for gamers to print out their own special covers for the game, especially considering the simplicity of the cover itself. There are still other pre-order bonuses for the game as well, and the collector's edition even comes with a somewhat ridiculous singing mutant head.

While the game is now just a few weeks away, Rage 2 may look like a completely different game six months after release, according to the developers. Whether that's for better or for worse remains to be seen, but at least fans don't have much longer until they find out for themselves.

Rage 2 will be available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on May 14th, 2019.
