Christmas is nearly here, and plenty of companies have chosen to celebrate in a variety of different ways. For instance, Rockstar Games recently gave Red Dead Online a subtle, yet festive update, while Sony's annual PlayStation Holiday Sale is live now. Bethesda, on the other hand, has decided to use the spirit of the season as a means to promote Avalanche Studios and id Software's next title, Rage 2, by putting out a ridiculous Christmas-themed trailer.

Using a compilation of gameplay from Rage 2, the first-person shooter's latest trailer counts down the "12 Days of Ragemas", with the footage focusing on the various things that players will be able to do in the forthcoming title. With the clip barely being 40 seconds long, Bethesda manages to cram in quite a bit of content, as it shows how fans can take part in brutal melee combat, gun fights, high-speed races, along with some questionably strange scenarios.

For those who may be out of the loop when it comes to Rage 2's development cycle, fans looking forward to the title were finally given confirmation of the project's release date during The Game Awards 2018. Not only that, but also they were treated to a rather intense bit of gameplay to better illustrate how large Rage 2's open world will be, and the swathe of different activities that players will be able to participate in.

Those looking forward to Rage 2 on PC would do well to know that it appears as if the title will be skipping Steam, and will likely be available exclusively via the Bethesda Launcher. Bethesda has yet to openly declare as much, but with the official pre-order page for the game not even mentioning Valve's digital distribution platform, many fans have been upset about the possibility of only being able to play the sequel through the publisher's launcher. While this has yet to be confirmed, with Fallout 76 having avoided a Steam release, it's a pretty safe bet Rage 2 won't be on Steam either.

Rage 2 is scheduled to launch on May 14, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
