Raft is an adventure, exploration, survival game set in the assumed future where the world is covered in water and the main objective is to survive, gather resources, and build a raft that players can survive on. Whether alone or with some friends, players not only have to fend off a relentless shark but uncover secrets along the way.

Resources float towards the players as they glide through the water, however, there are some resources that are hard to come by, and some are extremely important to stock up on. One of these resources is Vine Goo, which is needed to craft several important items throughout the game. This guide will not only explain how to gather and craft Vine Goo, but what Vine Goo is used for so that players can make sure to have a substantial amount on hand.

How To Get Vine Goo

To create Vine Goo in Raft, players will need to first get a Smelter, which requires 4 Planks, 6 Dry Bricks, 4 Scrap and 6 Nails. The trickiest part of making the Smelter would probably be Dry Bricks because of how long it takes to process. Players will need 2 Sand and 2 Clay to create one Wet Brick. Once that’s done, place the Bricks on the raft and let it sit for about five minutes to dry out completely.

After players craft the Smelter, they will then need to find Seaweed to place into the Smelter, along with grabbing enough planks to keep the Smelter burning. The Seaweed is underwater, the tall kelp plants that are commonly near Islands. The ingredient can also be found in crates found near some islands or in Loot Boxes if players are lucky enough.

After gathering Seaweed, players will need to place it in the Smelter, and after about 45 seconds, they will get Vine Goo. Also, if players are near Varuna Point, killing Anglerfish have a chance at dropping 0-2 Vine Goo.

What Vine Goo Is Used For

Once players have their Vine Goo, the first thing they should be prepared to do is use one up on the Research Table, which will unlock all the recipes to further utilize the ingredient. If players have a Recycler, they can also put the Vine Goo in there to get a Trash Cube, which is needed for the Trading Post as currency.

However, for those that want to get all the recipes from the Goo, these are all of the items and what players will need to make it.

Empty Bottle

This is crucial when players are anticipating exploring a large island or something else along the way of their journey.

Players can fill this bottle up with water to make sure they're hydrated on their journey. It requires 6 Plastic and 4 Vine Goo. It holds up to five units of water, which is an incredible upgrade to the Empty Cup.

Cooking Pot

Another great item to have as early as possible, the Cooking Pot is used to cook dishes. The Pot has predetermined recipes, and when players consume them, they receive bonuses.

Recipes take four pieces of food, with varying levels of types of food from early-game vegetables, to more mid-game ingredients. This item requires 6 Planks, 6 Plastic, 2 Metal Ingots, 4 Vine Goo, and 1 Bolt. It's a hefty item with substantial gain.

Juicer

Like the Cooking Pot, the Juicer is used to make drinks. There are predetermined recipes, and players will receive bonuses when consuming them.

It's an expensive item as well, with more advanced resources needed. By combining 6 Planks, 6 Plastic, 1 bolt, 4 Vine Goo and 1 Circuit Board, players can create delicious juice.

Sweep Net

This Net is needed for those that want to catch Bee Swarms, with a durability of 25 uses. Thankfully, it's only depleted when Swarms are caught, not on just the swings itself.

It requires 15 Planks, 6 Rope, 2 Vine Goo and 1 Bolt.

Basic Bow

This Bow is a great tool for those that want a ranged weapon to fend off attacks. It can shoot a variety of Arrows, such as Stone (10 damage), Metal (15 damage), or Titanium (20 damage).

The arrows can be picked back up if players either slay the enemy or miss them, however this is not the same if shot in the water. The Bow requires 6 planks, 4 Rope, 2 Vine Goo and 1 Bolt.

Oxygen Bottle

Deep sea divers will enjoy this item. It's already stressful to have to dive into the depths where sharks lurk, having the added stress of oxygen can now be forgotten about with this item.

This item extends the time players can take underwater by slowing the drain of oxygen. With 8 Plastic, 4 Rope, 1 Empty Bottle and 5 Vine Goo, players can dive as much as they want.

Flippers

Another beneficial item players can use during their underwater exploration. Flippers are a great asset for those that want some extra speed underwater while harvesting resources, or simply getting away from enemies.

There is a durability on the Flippers, adding up to only 10 minutes of swim time. Players need 6 Plastic, 6 Seaweed, 5 Vine Goo and 4 Rope.

Circuit Board

While this is more for the later game resources, the Circuit Board comes in handy quite often, so players need to make sure they're stocking up to prepare for future items. The Board is needed when crafting electronic devices such as Engines, Antenna's, Wind Turbines and more.

It will be needed for several items, so players need to make sure they stock up early. It only requires 5 Plastic, 2 Copper Ingots and 1 Vine Goo.
