It’s been over a week since the release of Halo: Reach and I am sure many of you gamers out there have explored every nook and cranny of the game. You’ve achieved a fairly high rank in multiplayer, you’ve defended bases till your heart’s content in Firefight, and maybe you’ve even gone back and finished the campaign on legendary. But now you are left wondering what is left to do. While some of you might think of Halo as a shallow pool with only three feet of water, the guys over at Red vs. Blue have found a secret little competition as part of their Achievement Hunter video series to keep the fun alive.

On the mission Sword Base, if two players are working together (sorry co-op matchmaking hopefuls) they can activate a short little objective titled “Reach Racer.” After simultaneously activating the race, any players participating will be warped to a hillside with two warthogs. From there, it’s a mad dash towards the objective point to decide the winner, but don’t forget each warthog is mounted with a weapon, so use it to your advantage. Once a player or team has crossed the finish line, the unfortunate loser experiences not only a little bit of shame but the weakening blast of having their vehicle spontaneously combust before their own eyes. Cue sad music.

As a little surprise left by the developers at Bungie, this was a pretty fun distraction to take away from the awesome game modes. With Forge World, gamers could create their own racing tracks, but knowing that Bungie left this little treat hidden for its fans is a much sweeter reward. Hopefully, there are more secrets to be found in the world of Reach.

Did any of you Ranters discover the Reach Racer on your own? Are there any more secrets in the world of Reach that gamers have found that are as substantial as this little racing mini-game? Let us know in the comments below.
