Bethesda has just finished up with its QuakeCon at Home event which featured panels and livestreams for some of the studio's biggest games. Throughout the weekend, the event was also raising money for charity, which unlocked some cool perks for the Quake games on the Bethesda Launcher when significant milestones were reached.

QuakeCon may have been in celebration of all of Bethesda's games, including Fallout, Prey, and Doom, but one of the major features was naturally the headlining title, Quake.  Thanks in part to the release of the free-to-play Quake Champions back in 2017, Quake is still a hit with players and the new release has managed to bring the best of the signature arena battles to online platforms. The game even has a world championship league of which the Grand Finals were streamed live at QuakeCon.

To thank players for donating over $20k to charity during QuakeCon at Home, Bethesda announced that Quake 3: Arena would become free in the Bethesda Launcher following the event. To access the game, players will need to have logged in to the Bethesda Launcher from their account during QuakeCon. The game hasn't been added to the site yet but is expected to be available in the coming days.

Quake 2 was also announced to be free when the charity donations reached $10k and the original Quake was announced as a free perk for all during QuakeCon, meaning players will have access to all three of the main Quake games on the Bethesda Launcher. Quake was largely regarded to be one of the formative first-person shooter games when it was released in 1996, but has remained relevant into the modern era due to its popularity. For those who haven't experienced Quake's epic arena battles before, now is the time to claim the game for free while it is available on Bethesda Launcher.

Quake Champions is available now on PC.
