The creepy 3D platformer, Pumpkin Jack is set to launch just in time for Halloween. And the brand new official launch trailer shows off new footage of its haunting gameplay.

Pumpkin Jack is headed to PC on October 23, 2020. Described by some as a modern take on MediEveil, the game sees a pumpkin-headed "Jack" leaping through various horrifying levels with acrobatic movement as he explores a cursed world. Jack also builds up an arsenal of weaponry that he uses to take down undead and damned creatures of abundant verity.

Pumpkin Jack is also inspired by Jak and Dexter, and he and his crow seem to have a comical bond, but other creatures look to be in play to give Jack a hand as well. According to the trailer, Jack was given a mission by the devil himself. He needs to find "the wizard" and destroy him. Of course, based on the over-the-top gameplay shown in the trailer, it seems like that will be easier said than done.

Pumpkin Jack releases at a perfect time, with Halloween being eight days after the launch of the game. With the game very clearly leaning into the holiday theme, the game has the opportunity to stand-out for anyone looking for a festive experience to go along with the times.

That being said, Pumpkin Jack doesn't look like an over-the-top horrifying game by any means, making it a good game to add to the list of Halloween games that aren't scary. In terms of tone and scariness, Pumpkin Jack seems to be more aligned with something like A Nightmare Before Christmas.

Pumpkin Jack launches October 23 for PC, Switch, and Xbox One.
