During Microsoft's Xbox Insider broadcast during gamescom 2018 in Cologne, Germany, the developers behind PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds revealed when the wildly popular battle royale title will officially see its 1.0 launch on Xbox One. While this definitely an exciting prospect for a plethora of PUBG fans, Microsoft also decided to sweeten the announcement by unveiling a a new custom Xbox One controller inspired by the game.

As seen in the image below, not only does the special edition PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds controller for Xbox One give the peripheral a design facelift with a digital camo look and symbols representing the game, but also it has the new feature of rubberized trigger grips. This should help PUBG players' whose fingers occasionally falter or slip while trying to pull off a crucial shot have a better chance at tagging their targets.

According to Microsoft, the custom PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds controller for Xbox One is available for pre-order right now for $70, and it will begin shipping to participating retailers worldwide on October 30, 2018. Should the PUBG-themed peripheral not be one's cup of tea, however, Microsoft also announced it will have new options for the Xbox Design Lab's custom Xbox One wireless controllers, with players now able to design controllers with a wider palette of designs, including five new camouflage sets and five new shadow options.

Other than the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds controller's cosmetic changes and the rubberized grips, fans shouldn't expect much of a difference from a standard Xbox One controller. With this being the case, it will definitely be interesting to see just how many diehard PUBG players spring for the Limited Edition peripheral, and if they wind up finding it to be worth the purchase.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now for Android, iOS, and PC, with its official launch on Xbox One coming on September 4, 2018.
