PUBG players have been waiting quite some time (over three years) for a ranked mode to be added to the game, and it seems that now their wishes have finally been granted. In a recent tweet, the game announced that the ranked mode will go live on May 26th and promises great rewards for those that try it.

PUBG is essentially the game that popularized the battle royale genre, spawning numerous other attempts such as Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, and more. Unfortunately, despite being the genre's progenitor, it seems that fans are less than enthused about the addition of a ranked mode.

Most other battle royale games had ranked modes at or around launch, but the three-year wait for PUBG to catch up has clearly jaded the game's fans, with many claiming that it is too little too late. Still, the ranked mode should add some new dynamics for those die-hard fans of the game.

What rewards await players that do well in the ranked mode is unclear, but if the tweet is to be believed, they should be enticing. Perhaps the introduction of a ranked mode will be enough to draw back some users at least for a while.

PUBG is available now.
