Tencent Games released the Season 13 Royale Pass Toy Playground for Player Unknown's Battlegrounds Mobile on Wednesday, May 13th. The update to the PvP FPS comes with shiny toy-themed outfits, weapons, and vehicles, as well as new emotes. Players who have already upgraded to the 0.18.0 update before May 13th got additional benefits.

The popular and free-to-play mobile game pits 100 players split into teams of four against each other in a realistic island map. Weapons and ammo are cached everywhere, as well as wearable items like helmets and armor. All players received a free Royale Pass, which will allow them to reach up to rank 60, but to get any further they will need to purchase an Elite Pass from the store for 600 UC (9.99), or a Super Elite Pass for 4500 UC (about $75), although a discount is available now which drops the price to 1800. UC is also available through playing the game, so a player can theoretically upgrade for free.

PUBG Mobile is also holding a Royale Pass S13 Upgrade Event, with the goal of getting over 9999K players to upgrade to the Elite or Super Elite pass. To access the benefits, of course, you need to have one of the two. At rank 50 players have the option of unlocking either the Fire Ranger or the Frost Ranger set, made to look very similar to the infamous Power Rangers. The Ultra Defender set unlocks at Rank 100. If you reach max rank, you receive 600 IC, which can be used to upgrade next season's pass.

The notification system has also been given an upgrade with this patch, allowing players to receive RP mission reminders and keep better track of their progress. Players will receive these messages at the beginning and the end of each season.

New skins in the Toy Playground include the Hotdogmobile Motorcycle which is a friendly nod to the famous Oscar Meyer Weinermobile. The Puppet Agent and Toy Master sets are available by completing special missions. The Puppet Agent outfit comes with three different varieties, allowing players to customize to their preferences.

Players can live out Toy Story dreams with all new toy-themed sets and weapons. They can stand up for truth, justice, and the American way by wearing the Army Men set, which is sky blue and very shiny just like the classic plastic toys. The Army Men mask obscures the player's face entirely, leaving only their neck exposed when paired with the plastic army fatigues, while the Army Men helmet resembles a welding mask and has strong RoboCop vibes. The feet even have flat protrusions reminiscent of a toy soldier's base.

The Ultra Defender armor is blue and orange, featuring four-pointed stars with sharp angles and the kind of in-your-face pop that grabs attention. Its Astro Boy style and bright colors will appeal to players who really want to stand out in the field.

The content, particularly the new skins, was leaked on May 11th by Rigg's Gaming on Youtube, and there were mixed reactions, as the colorful toy-themed skins do not necessarily fit the game's gritty, realistic aesthetic. Players may be relieved that the Ranger skins did not end up being the Rank 100 reward as originally rumored. As always, players who are not fond of the new sets can simply scrap them.

Player Unknown's Battlegrounds Mobile is available now for Android and iOS.
