PUBG Mobile Announces Resident Evil 2 Crossover

Not too long ago, Bluehole Studio made an announcement to confirm that its battle royale phenomenon, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, will finally release on PS4 after the game's stint as a timed console exclusive for Xbox. Now, the Android and iOS version of the game is stepping into the spotlight with a reveal of its own, by declaring PUBG Mobile will be teaming up with Capcom to hold a crossover event with the Resident Evil 2 remake.

As indicated by the tweet below, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile will provide more details on the forthcoming Resident Evil 2 remake crossover content to come in the portable battle royale title "very soon". While the embedded video in the tweet doesn't do much to offer any clues as to what one should expect out of the Tencent and Capcom team up, the image further below from founder Lewie Proctor shows that there will at least be skins involved.

For those unaware, the PUBG Mobile and Resident Evil 2 remake crossover won't be the first instance of the battle royale property forming a partnership with other pop culture brands for exclusive in-game wares. As a matter of fact, PUBG Corp. revealed the Joker and Harley Quinn skins modeled after their Suicide Squad likenesses for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds fans to acquire in the title.

As of now, there's no telling just how in-depth the PUBG Mobile and Resident Evil 2 remake crossover will go, as the event might only involve giving players the incentive to get the skins that can be seen above. Nevertheless, there's always the chance that PUBG Mobile gets inspired by Fortnite's Halloween event–that is, Fortnitemares 2018–and uses the RE2 crossover as a means to introduce a kind of zombie mode in the game. Since this is just speculation at this point in time, we will simply have to wait and see what transpires.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile is available now for Android and iOS devices.
