PUBG Mobile is incredibly popular and is no stranger to ambitious crossover events. The app's newest crossover is with Legendary Pictures' recently released Kaiju film, Godzilla vs. Kong.

PUBG Mobile recently made news after becoming the third app ever, along with Subway Surfers and Pokemon GO, to cross one billion downloads. The app has been a lot more experimental than its PC and console counterpart, with a mode where players can get superpowers and premiering a single from K-Pop group Blackpink. The game also just crossed its three-year anniversary earlier this month, which it celebrated with a star-studded anniversary event on YouTube.

Now, in a new mode, the battle royale will let players fight it out for a chicken dinner while also interacting with Godzilla and Kong. The event's announcement is sparse on details, but players will also be able to unlock various cosmetics related to the movie's iconic behemoths. The game also released a stylish trailer for the event with footage from the game and the new film spliced together, as well as a statement from Godzilla vs. Kong's director, Adam Wingard. The announcement comes just after the announcement that PUBG Lite, the free-to-play, low-spec alternative to the PC version of the game, announced that it was going to close down at the end of the month.

Godzilla vs. Kong is the newest entry in the popular Kaiju series, capping off the series that started in with the 2014 reboot, Godzilla. Godzilla vs. Kong released in theaters as well as on HBO Max just yesterday and is finally being released after it was delayed multiple times because of the pandemic like so many other movies have been. The movie has been well received by fans for its great action-filled brawls between the two giants, and the crossover could be a great way for fans to experience the Kaiju in a new way.

For players who want to get a head start on the game before the crossover launches in the near future, PUBG Mobile just started its new mode called "graffiti prank" that runs until May 10. The event sees clowns creating mayhem in the in-game Anniversary Celebration Square, where players can drop in and collect tokens that can be exchanged for items at a newly added store. With the launch of an all-new desert-themed 64-player map also on the horizon, there is a lot of exciting content on the way for PUBG Mobile, making now a great time to jump in.

PUBG Mobile is available to download on Android and iOS, while Godzilla vs. Kong is out now in theaters and on HBO Max.
