The battle royale is one of the most popular shooter genres, and there's an aesthetic and set of mechanics for every fan's taste. Some like zany, cartoony shooters with an exaggerated look. Others prefer their games to be hardcore mil-sims, awash in muddy browns, tans, and grays.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) leans towards realism in most areas, but sometimes players are looking for a different aesthetic. One way to get the desired look is by altering the color of blood within the game. Whether this is done because the player finds certain shades easier to spot and is seeking a competitive edge, or just because it's a cool change of pace, here's the best way to change blood color in PUBG.

How To Change Blood Color On PC

PUBG - Settings Screen

The default color of blood in PUBG is a realistic red, but blood color can be altered to one of several other colors. There have been a few different ways to do this since the game debuted on PC, but given that some methods require the player to alter the game files themselves (rather than simply adjust settings), thereby running the risk of messing up the game's functionality, there is only one safe and recommended method.

First, go to the in-game settings menu. From there, navigate to the "Gameplay" tab and then to "Colorblind Mode." These options were implemented in the game to make this easier for players with different forms of colorblindness, but any player can use them to alter the game's look. The game offers three different colorblind options, each of which will change blood to a different color:

  • "Deuteranopia" makes blood pink.
  • "Protanopia" makes blood blue.
  • "Tritanopia" makes blood orange.

How To Change Blood Color On Mobile

PUBG - Color

The solution is almost identical on mobile. In PUBG Mobile, there are only two accessible blood colors: the default red and a green alternative. To change blood color on mobile, click on the Settings icon at the bottom of the screen and then tap on the "Graphics & Audio" tab. Scroll down to find the "Colorblind Mode" option. The same three color options are listed here as are listed in the PC version of the game, along with the original red blood as "Normal." Select the desired mode, and the blood color will be changed. These options can even be changed in the middle of a game through the settings menu, if the player wants to switch things up on the fly.

Blood color isn't the only thing that will change if the player uses one of the game's three colorblind options, however. Display colors for a number of game elements will be altered as well: this includes minimap markers, the trajectory indicators for grenades and other throwable items, the smoke from air drops, poison, indicators for incoming fire, and the Red Zone. Though the effect of these changes is largely superficial, they should be kept in mind by players looking to tweak the game's settings.
