A new announcement from the PUBG team revealed that the game will be free-to-play for this week. The new Free Play Week for PUBG will be available to new players who want to give the game a try.

The announcement comes from the official PUBG website, where it provided further details on the new Free Play Week. The official dates for the Free Play Week will take place starting today, August 10, through next Monday, August 16. There was even a short trailer released to help announce the game being free-to-play this week. However, there are more details behind PUBG's new Free Play Week than that.

According to the post, all in-game PUBG rewards can be obtained in the game during this Free Play Week, including Pass and Mission rewards as well as XP and BP. On top of that, all missions and stats earned during the Free Play Week will be recorded in the game, so new players can keep track of their progress and achievements while they are playing.

Also, the post revealed that PUBG will have special events prepared to welcome new players to the game. The activities will help new players become familiar with the game and provide a fun experience for them. The listed special drop events include parachuting for 600M, using two emotes in a match, ledge grab over obstacles two times, survive for 200 minutes, and looting a total of 300 items.

Players who complete these new special drop events will receive a new reward that goes with each one of them, like a Sleeveless Cheetah top for completing the parachute drop event or earning a brown Utility Belt for completing the ledge grab drop event. Players will also be able to create a Global Account event from accounts.pubg.com then link it to their Steam account. Players with a new Global Account who do this during Free Play Week can receive the special reward of Traditional Glasses in PUBG.

However, the post also reveals in a FAQ segment that the current Free Play Week of PUBG is only available to players on Steam and not on other game platforms, like the Xbox One and PS4 consoles. According to the post, new players' gameplay records of their stats and claimed rewards from this Free Play Week will not disappear. It will all carry over to the same account after purchasing the game. Also, the in-game store will only be available once new players purchase the game.

PUBG Battlegrounds is currently available on PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
