Since Silent Hills was officially canceled a few years back, Konami's P.T. demo has gone on to inspire the development of spiritual successors as well as full-on fan remakes, and it doesn't look like that's about to change. Footage of a new remake is currently making the rounds and generating buzz largely due to how it was made. The latest P.T. fan creation was built using Media Molecule’s upcoming PS4-exclusive creation game, Dreams.

As seen in the brief clip shared on Twitter, the Dreams build offers a surprisingly faithful replication of P.T.'s eerie atmosphere. Of course, upon closer inspection, various sacrifices related to technical limitations become more apparent. Still, the result is likely the most impressive example of the engine's potential yet.

How long the footage will remain available to the public is anyone's guess, as it appears to violate Media Molecule's non-disclosure agreement. The matter is a subject of debate in the video's Twitter comments, with some suggesting it should be removed and others arguing against its removal. To note, President of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, retweeted footage of the build in action, but has since deleted the retweet.

Dreams is an upcoming sandbox adventure game and PS4-exclusive being developed by LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule, featuring the ability to create and share user-generated content. The beta phase ran from December 19 and ended today, which means the next time players will have the chance to experiment with the game will likely be when it officially releases some time this year.

Fans of P.T. got a brief scare late last year when reports surfaced that a mysterious patch was wiping the game's file from PS4 systems and making the application unplayable. Thankfully, Konami issued an official response following the reports that clarified the demo is still playable as long as users don't delete it from their hard drive.

Considering P.T. is in fact copyrighted material, most remakes are quick to get the axe. Most recently, a download was made available for a remake built from scratch that even supported virtual reality. However, the download was tragically removed due to the developer's increasing work-load.

Dreams is scheduled for release on the PS4 in 2019.
