The next biggest thing PlayStation gamers have to look forward to is the PSVR2. The headset packs plenty of new features, including orb-shaped controllers with many of the same bells and whistles as the PS5 DualSense controller. The price of the PSVR2 has made many gamers second-guess whether they really need the headset, though the revealed launch line-up should do a lot to convince gamers that the price tag is worth it.

Regardless of what genre of games one is into, there is something to please everybody. Gamers can jump into their driver’s seat and burn rubber with Gran Turismo 7, or they can experience hair-raising horrors with Resident Evil Village, to name but a few titles. Although the PSVR2 won’t be compatible with PSVR games, the launch line-up still looks sufficiently stacked enough to keep gamers busy.

RPG lovers probably already have an eye on Horizon Call of the Mountain, which is a flagship launch title for the PSVR2. This entry in Guerrilla Games’ Horizon franchise will not feature Aloy as the protagonist. Instead, it will focus on the former Shadow Carja warrior Ryas as he seeks redemption. Shooting arrows and taking down machines in VR sounds like an adrenaline-fueled experience. Gamers can also look forward to Thumper’s PSVR2 port. At first glance, Thumper looks a lot like Wipeout, although it is a lot more rhythm-based. It was a hit on the PSVR, and a PSVR2 port will only make its psychedelic, neon-colored world more splendorous.

Not all gamers are looking to get their blood pumping, however. Such players can check out Tetris Effect instead, which will be receiving a PS5 and PSVR2 upgrade. Instead of high-speed action sequences, players are immersed in a vibrant game of Tetris where the music and colors match the tempo of the gameplay, stimulating the senses in ways that not every Tetris title strives for. For players interested in adventure, there is Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky. With a functionally endless amount of planets to explore, gamers will never get bored, and the constant updates ensure there is always something new to do. PSVR2 could be the most immersive way to experience this intergalactic adventure. The full list of PSVR2 launch titles is as follows:

Sony reportedly plans to have two million PSVR 2 units produced for the headset’s launch. This suggests the company is quite optimistic about the headset, as the original PSVR sold around five million units in its whole lifetime. It also means gamers likely won't have to worry about scalpers snatching up all the stock. For gamers who want to start VR gaming in 2023, this may be the perfect opportunity to leap onto the platform.
