Following the release of PS3 firmware 3.15, released this past Wednesday night, many PS3 users were expecting PSP Minis to be playable on PlayStation 3 consoles. However, not all PSP Minis are playable as of yet.

IGN's Greg Miller, was also confused by certain Minis that were not compatible with the PS3 emulator. Minis launched alongside the firmware update (Stand O'Food, etc.) should play without incident. However, many titles released prior to the update are not yet compatible.

A Sony spokesperson, speaking with IGN, claimed that the PSP mini-compatability problem is only temporary:

"The conversion process for Minis has started, and Minis titles are starting to become playable on both PS3 and PSP," the rep told IGN. "In the coming weeks, Minis will have a dedicated section under "PS3 Games" on PlayStation Store. Any previously released Minis that will be playable with PS3 will be available for download within this section."

PSN Stores has put together a list of Minis currently compatible with the PS3.

While the Minis are currently not a system-selling feature, if innovative developers are able to put together creative mini-apps, similar to the Apple apps, the PSP Minis could actually provide some really great experiences in the future.

Stay tuned to Game Rant for updates on PSP Mini compatibility as well as future PSP Mini news.
