Now that both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have been revealed, fans are waiting to know exactly when they will be able to purchase the next-generation consoles, and how much they will cost. Neither Sony nor Microsoft have made any announcements about the consoles' prices or release dates, but it seems as though that will change at some point within the next few weeks or so.

Former Game Informer editor and current Kinda Funny Gamescast host Imran Khan has said that he has "heard" both Sony and Microsoft will be revealing those details this month. This lines up pretty well with other rumors that have been floating around about the next-generation consoles. Rumors are that Sony may host a PS5 State of Play event as early as this week, and Head of Xbox himself Phil Spencer has teased that Microsoft has another event up its sleeve for August.

Nothing official has been announced just yet, though, so fans should keep their expectations in check. Meanwhile, Khan also suggested that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will have more software to showcase this month. Again, Khan stopped short of providing specifics, but did say that the companies both have big things to announce. "I wouldn't be shocked if they showed them soon," he said, and also said that he is "surprised" that they are holding on to these big announcements.

While Khan didn't offer any specific games that Microsoft and Sony have been withholding, there has been a pretty big rumor that a Silent Hill PS5 exclusive is in active development. This rumor has come from credible sources who have accurately leaked video game news in the past. Some even expected the rumored Silent Hill PS5 exclusive to be shown at the PS5 showcase event that took place in June, and were surprised when it wasn't at the event.

As far as Xbox goes, it's less clear what games it may be saving for later announcements, but maybe its big August announcement doesn't have anything to do with software. There are rumors that Microsoft is going to announce an Xbox Series S console at some point in August, which will be a slightly weaker version of the Xbox Series X. Whether or not that takes place remains to be seen, but there have been reports about a weaker, cheaper next-gen Xbox for months now, and so it wouldn't be surprising to see it officially announced.

Whatever the case may be, if Sony and Microsoft are both planning to reveal more next-generation console news in August, here's hoping the reveals come sooner rather than later.
