Since August 2019, a series of leaks have purported to reveal the design of the dev kit for Sony's highly-anticipated PlayStation 5. These leaks have featured supposed renders and even potential photos of the PS5 dev kit, and now yet another aspect of the dev kit appears to have surfaced online, with a brand new leak claiming to show off its UI for the very first time.

As seen below, the PlayStation 5 dev kit UI, as depicted in this recent leak, feels like a slightly revised take on the PS4's interface, and while the console's final UI is not likely to be identical to what is seen here, it may be close. Indeed, the UIs featured on some of Sony's previous console dev kits, including that which appeared on the dev kit for the PS4, ultimately turned out to be very similar to what was seen on the consumer versions of the consoles, and that may again prove true with the PS5.

If it does, it seems that opinions on the PS5's UI will depend heavily on how players feel about the PS4's current interface. More specifically, fans that are happy with the PS4's UI may be pleased to see it act as a solid foundation for the PS5's interface, while those that were hoping for the next-gen console to bring a more significant change may be slightly disappointed.

That said, it is also certainly possible that the UI for Sony's forthcoming console will differ dramatically from what is seen here, which would flip these opinions on their heads. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the PS5 leak that has provided this image originates from 4chan, and it should thus be approached with some general skepticism.

Fortunately, it appears that the veil of mystery shrouding the PlayStation 5 may be lifted in short order, as a currently circulating rumor suggests that a PS5 reveal event is set to occur on February 5. It is said that this event will show off the console's home screen, as well as its design, controller, and more, and if that proves true, it would put any speculation about the PS5's UI to rest once and for all.
