What would happen if Apple designed the PlayStation 5 instead of Sony isn't a question many would find themselves asking. It's more likely people would wonder what would happen if Microsoft created the PlayStation and Sony the Xbox. Still, one savvy video editor decided to pose the question and then answer it via an Apple-inspired PlayStation 5 commercial.

Obviously, Apple and Sony have two very different ways of approaching their marketing, as is evident by the commercials they've done for their respective heavy-hitters: the iPhone 12 and the PlayStation 5. Apple only recently premiered the iPhone 12 announcement commercial, and this parody trailer, which was created by Reddit user "itsfredie," takes inspiration from it. This gives the teaser an accuracy strong enough to make it borderline hilarious.

The video is only twelve seconds long, and within that time, it manages to capture the frantic pacing of Apple's editing by using multiple quick-cuts and zoom-ins to show off the PlayStation 5's design. It even throws in a disclaimer stating that the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller is sold separately, which pokes fun at the fact that Apple has decided to sell the iPhone 12 without a power adapter or earbuds. These are accessories that have come with every previously released iPhone, so as one can imagine that most aren't happy with Apple's decision.

It's interesting to think about how different companies would handle marketing someone else's product. When promoting the PlayStation, Sony usually opts to make commercials portraying real people existing within video game universes, promoting the idea that the PlayStation's gaming experience is truly immersive. Sony would likely take a similar route if it were to market something like Apple's iPhone Mini. It's also easy to imagine that the company would include the product's headphones with it as well.

Fans of both the PlayStation and the iPhone can expect their latest iterations to arrive soon. The iPhone 12 goes on sale on October 23, while the PlayStation 5 releases on November 12. Both products will have more than one model to buy, with the PlayStation 5 having a Digital and Standard Edition, and the iPhone 12 has a regular version, a mini version, a Pro, and a Pro Max option. The iPhone 12 will come in a variety of colors, while the PlayStation 5 currently only comes in white, but some rumors claim that will change after launch.
