Recently, a 4chan poster made the claim that they were privy to leaked internal emails at Sony that revealed The Last of Us 2 release window, as well as confirmed Ghost of Tsushima as a PlayStation 5 game. While 4chan is hardly a reliable source for news, the forum has been home to legitimate video game leaks in the past, and so it can't be completely ignored. That being said, the same leaker who claimed that The Last of Us 2's release date will be revealed during a PlayStation State of Play presentation on November 1 has also potentially leaked the PlayStation 5 reveal date.

According to the leak, the PS5 reveal date is February 12, 2020. It's then when Sony will apparently host the PlayStation Meeting 2020, where it will reveal the future of the PlayStation brand to the world. Big name video game publishers are expected to showcase titles at the event, including EA, Activision, and Square Enix. The event will focus on Sony's biggest upcoming exclusive games, The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima, and may also unveil the PlayStation VR 2, which is expected to launch at some point in 2021.

The leak also suggests that both The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima will be coming to the PS5, which makes sense. Assuming both games launch for the PS4 before the PS5's expected fall 2020 release date, then it seems safe to assume that they will be launch titles for the new system.

rumor next playstation state of play details leak, will include last of us 2 release date

Like with any "leaks," we caution that fans should take the information with a grain of salt. It's possible that this information is legitimate, but no proof has been presented so far. Even so, it does make sense for Sony to reveal the PS5 in February 2020, as it hosted a similar event for the PS4 back in February of 2013.

It also makes sense for Sony to bring The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima to the PS5. After all, both games are releasing late into the PS4's lifespan, and they could help to bolster the PS5's early library of games.

If Sony is truly planning to host a special PlayStation Meeting event on February 12, 2020 to reveal the PS5, we should learn about it at some point in the coming months.
