Speculation regarding Sony's plans for revealing more PlayStation 5 information is reaching a fever peak. Several supposed leaks and rumors point to February as the month where Sony will have one of its classic PlayStation Meeting unveilings. But as of yet no official confirmation or substantial evidence of such an event has been found. That doesn't mean that there isn't evidence of a forthcoming PS5 announcement, however. In fact, there seems to be something going on with Sony right now.

Some sort of Sony meeting appears to be going on in San Francisco, several Sony-related tweets have indicated. While no overt mention of a Sony company-related gathering  has been mentioned, several important heads within the company's gaming division are now in San Francisco for an undisclosed reason. For example, Herman Hulst, the head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios tweeted he was flying into San Francisco this past Sunday. That same day, Greg Miller tweeted that he was having dinner with Sony's very own Shuhei Yoshida, as well as Super Punch communications manager Andrew Goldfarb. Miller is a San Francisco native.

There's unfortunately no added context to why several PlayStation employees are gathering in San Francisco. It may be as innocuous as a quarterly meeting. Though it can safely be assumed that Yoshida having dinner with Miller isn't a common occurrence. Exactly what Yoshida, Hurst, and Goldfarb are doing in San Francisco, or if they're meeting all is unknown. But it's likely more than a coincidence, whether it's part of the plan to reveal the PS5 or not.

The reason why the apparent gathering of Sony brass is worth calling attention to is what's expected to be a February reveal event for the PlayStation 5. Several rumors, many of which have been shown to be false, have pointed to a February 12 date for this PlayStation Meeting. Yet even if that date proves false, industry talk continues to see a February event as likely. For example, in the most recent Vice Games podcast, Patrick Klepek reported that "a lot of Sony stuff" will be coming in February.

Sony did use a February 2013 PlayStation Meeting event to showcase the PlayStation 3. It ended up waiting for E3 2013 to actually unveil the console, though. The PlayStation Meeting was also held in New York and not San Francisco. With Sony now confirming that it will be skipping E3 2020, it's going to have to make up for the lost spotlight with more of its own events. February makes sense for one of those new events, but only time will tell.
