A former Xbox marketing boss has some very positive things to say about the PS5 after Sony officially revealed the console's specs. In a highly technical video, Sony announced the PS5's specs, confirming how many teraflops the console has and the speed of its SSD.

On ResetERA, Albert Penello, who was the boss of Xbox marketing for 18 years before leaving Microsoft last summer, said that he thinks Sony is making some "very smart moves" with the PS5. Penello isn't disappointed with how many teraflops the PS5 has and feels that if the console is $399 then it will be a "great deal."

Penello is one of several people in the industry to have good things to say about the PS5 after the reveal. Kurt Margenau, the co-game director of The Last of Us Part 2, said that the PS5 is the "biggest leap" of his career. Third-party developers like DOOM Eternal's lead engine programmer Billy Khan have also been very positive about the console. This will be great news for Sony which was criticized when developers found the PS3 difficult to make games for.

PS5 BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY

However, it is gamers who aren't so happy with the way that Sony confirmed this information about the PS5. The word PS5 trended on Twitter after the reveal video because some gamers were upset with how technical it was. Sony had also been made fun of over the PS5 logo. Some had hoped that Sony would use the video to confirm the console's release date and potentially announce some more PS5 games.

The video also confirmed that the Xbox Series X specs are more powerful than the PS5's specs. There have been suggestions that the number of teraflops in the consoles isn't important and that things such as the SSD are what will make the games better. However, as Sony hasn't shown what games look like on the PS5, it's not difficult to see why fans think the Xbox Series X looks so much stronger.

It's unclear when Sony is planning to share more information about the PS5. There are now several rumors about the PS5's price and if it will be as much as $500 or more affordable at $399 and fans keep asking developers if they are making games for the new console.

Job listings from developers like Rockstar Games confirm that big PS5 games are being made, but haven't been officially announced. Many fans want the next PS5 event from Sony to reveal this information so that they can be as positive about the console as those in gaming.

The PS5 is planned for release in holiday 2020.
