Sony officially confirmed the PlayStation 5 last year, but there's still a lot we don't know about the next-generation console. Sony has yet to reveal what it looks like, its price, or release date, let alone when interested fans can actually pre-order it. However, a supposed leaker has potentially revealed when PS5 pre-orders will go live.

According to Twitter account PSErebus, who has made a number of claims about the PS5, pre-orders for the new console will go live sometime in March. This is actually quite a bit earlier than expected, as the PS5 isn't due out until holiday 2020. Traditionally, PS5 pre-orders would go live around E3 time in the summer, which is usually when the price for the new console would be revealed. However, with rumors of a PS5 reveal at CES 2020 on Monday, January 6, maybe pre-orders really will go live as early as March.

As previously mentioned, PSErebus has made a number of claims about Sony's PS5 console. Besides this claim that the PS5 pre-orders will go live in March, PSErebus has also said that the PS5 release date is November 20, 2020. Additionally, the claim has been made that the PS5 will retail for $499 come its supposed November 20 launch.

Like with any rumor, fans should take these claims with a massive grain of salt. Even so, this doesn't seem totally implausible. Of course, a number of things could happen that could influence the PS5's price in one direction or the other, and it's quite possible that its price and the potential pre-order date are not set in stone.

If Sony doesn't reveal the PS5 at its CES 2020 event as rumored, then fans may get their first proper look at the next-generation console sometime in February. Past rumors have pointed to a special PS5 reveal event next month, where Sony will have a proper showcase of the new console. If so, perhaps Sony will announce a March pre-order date for the PS5 during the February event as well.

Unfortunately, we won't know for certain if any of this is accurate until Sony itself decides to share more information. However, those who want to be guaranteed a PS5 on day one may want to prepare for PS5 pre-orders potentially going live as early as March.
