NBA 2K21 developer Visual Concepts reveals just how quickly the game will load on PS5. Visual Concepts and 2K Sports announced NBA 2K21 at the PS5 reveal event yesterday, giving fans their first, in-engine look at the next edition in the hugely popular basketball series.

In an extended version of the NBA 2K21 trailer shown at the PS5 reveal event, New Orleans Pelicans power forward and 2K Games spokesman Zion Williamson talked to Visual Concepts co-founder Greg Thomas about the game. After a loading screen with a countdown pops up, Thomas confirms that it will take just two seconds for NBA 2K21 to load on the new console. This seems to be the time it would take from selecting the game to getting into the first menu and not the time it takes to get between the different NBA 2K21 modes.

This is much faster than the time it takes to load NBA 2K20 on PS4 and fans who just want to get onto the court and don't want to stare at walls of NBA team logos first will be very happy. The reveal from Thomas also makes NBA 2K21 one of the few games to have really shown how it will be using the console's SSD.

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Village will not have any load times, but developers of many of the other games shown at the PS5 reveal event have not confirmed how fast their titles will load on the console. Games are expected to load quickly but fans may want to know the numbers.

While this is an incredibly quick time for NBA 2K21, it seems to be low down on the list for fans. One of the biggest things fans want to know is how good the game will really look. While many of the games announced at the PS5 reveal event showed gameplay, NBA 2K21's trailer was in-engine. Adding sweat to characters has long been a tool used by game developers of annual releases to make the graphics look better but it seems that fans aren't falling for it this time.

Another thing fans are asking about is the NBA 2K21 microtransactions. The microtransactions in the NBA 2K series make a huge amount of money and it seems unlikely that they won't feature in NBA 2K21. However, after NBA 2K20's microtransactions were criticized for being like gambling, fans want to know if NBA 2K21's microtransactions will look different.

NBA 2K21 releases holiday 2020 for PlayStation 5.
