Since last summer, rumors have been swirling that a remaster of The Legend of Dragoon was in the works at Bluepoint Games. Nothing has been announced yet, but a new leak may have bad news for fans who were looking forward to the possibility of a Legend of Dragoon remaster or remake.

A massive PS5 leak was posted on 4chan over a week ago, but it's getting a little more attention now that one of its claims has been corroborated. The leak seems to have been correct about the new PlayStation slogan, which lends more credibility to other claims made by the leaker. One such claim is that a Demon's Souls remaster is set to be revealed alongside the PS5 at a rumored reveal event on February 5, which would likely mean that Bluepoint's next game is Demon's Souls and not The Legend of Dragoon.

If the leak is accurate, Legend of Dragoon fans will no doubt be upset by this. However, it's just as likely that the leak isn't right. While it did seem to predict the new PlayStation slogan, the post also said that Sony was going to be at E3 this year, but we now know that Sony is skipping E3 2020. So not all hope is lost just yet.

And even if Bluepoint's next game is a Demon's Souls remaster instead of The Legend of Dragoon, that doesn't mean a Legend of Dragoon remaster can't materialize eventually. Legend of Dragoon fan petitions have amassed thousands of signatures already, so there's clearly a demand for the game. Maybe this fan demand will inspire Bluepoint to pursue a Legend of Dragoon remaster as its next project.

If Bluepoint never makes a Legend of Dragoon remaster, it's possible that fans will take matters into their own hands. A Legend of Dragoon fan remake has started production using RPG Maker, recreating the original game with a completely different art style. It may not have the graphical upgrade that a big budget Legend of Dragoon remake would, but it's better than nothing.

In the meantime, those feeling nostalgic for Legend of Dragoon have a relatively painless way to play the game. Legend of Dragoon is available as a PSOne Classic on the PlayStation Store, so fans can play it on PS3, PSP, or PS Vita.

The Legend of Dragoon is out now for PS1.
