A new game announced at the PS5 reveal event, titled Kena: Bridge of Spirits, has revealed new gameplay information about the upcoming indie game. While its initial reveal showed off how beautiful the indie title will look on PS5, this latest reveal gives players a better look at mechanics and features, like Kena's staff and the helpful little spirits known as the Rot.

This new information comes through an interview with IGN, where Josh and Mike Grier from Ember Lab spotlight some of the most important aspects of Kena: Bridge of Spirits' gameplay. Ember Lab has been quick to release new information since the game was initially revealed, quickly engaging players with the artful style of the Next-Gen title.

As the interview breaks down the original trailer to give another in-depth look at Kena: Bridge of Spirits, the developers dive into what players can expect from combat and exploration. First, they focused on the staff that Kena uses as the primary weapon in the game and can be used for melee attacks, turned into a bow, and is the source of a magical shield. Although, the staff won't be the only thing that the player has at their disposal, as Ember Lab continued on to explore the little allies hidden throughout the world known as the Rot.

Players will start without any Rot helpers and grow a team of them as they continue to explore the world and are rewarded with more for checking through every nook and cranny throughout the game. However, they are more than fun little companions to collect, as the Rot can also help solve puzzles as well as work together with Kena in combat. Collecting more will open up options to combine their abilities with Kena's in order to open up new combos and gain better control on the battlefield and incentivize exploring through the indie title.

While Kena: Bridge of Spirits might not be specifically exclusive to PS5, it's likely that the best experience for the impressive graphics available in the game will be through the Next-Gen console. Ember Lab's debut into game development does look stunning, and the combat looks like the kind of thing that fans of God of War with tight, fast-paced combat might appreciate. Indie fans may want to keep an eye out for more news on Kena: Bridge of Spirits as development moves forward, whether that's on PS5, PS4, or PC.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is set to release for the Holiday 2020 season, for PC, PS4, and PS5.
