2023 kept PlayStation owners busy. The year produced Resident Evil 4 (remake), Diablo 4, Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy 16, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, just to mention a few major releases. The PlayStation 5 library is consistently expanding, and the best is presumably yet to come for Sony's current console. PS5 & PS4 Games Coming Out In April 2024

Stellar Blade, Sand Land, & Sea Of Thieves

April 2024 is a fairly packed period for PS5 owners, although most of the major releases are scheduled for the end of the month. Two former Xbox exclusives, Grounded and Sea of Thieves, are debuting in the PlayStation ecosystem, and they are fantastic multiplayer options that offer wildly different experiences despite both fitting the sandbox category. The former is predominantly a survival game, while the latter is an action-adventure title.

While those two releases should offer longevity, April 2024's most exciting PS5 project is arguably Stellar Blade, a hack and slash game published by Sony. Over the last few months, this title has been steadily building up momentum through a couple of well-done trailers that emphasize its combat system. Sand Land is another exciting April 2024 release.

Dave the Diver made its PS5 and PS4 debut on April 16, and Mintrocket's game launched directly on PS Plus Extra and Premium.

Despite not featuring all that many huge titles, May 2024 should still be a decent month for PlayStation owners, particularly ones interested in the indie scene. Indika, Crow Country, Prison Architect 2, and Paper Trail are just a few projects set to launch during this period, and they should all offer unique experiences.

In terms of bigger names, MotoGP 24 and F1 24 are notable releases for the racing genre, with each one offering definitive sim experiences. Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 is making its way to next-gen hardware, while MultiVersus will be making its full debut. The latter is arguably May 2024's standout game.

Destiny 2, Elden Ring & More

June 2024 is the month of expansions, with Destiny 2, Elden Ring, and The Elder Scrolls Online all dropping new content. Each of these titles could headline a month on its own, so the fact their expansions are debuting so close is unusual. The Final Shape should bring to an end Destiny 2's story, and while Bungie's shooter has not always hit home runs, there is hope that the conclusion will land. Shadow of the Erdtree could very well be the biggest release of the summer period, and this expansion has been highly anticipated since Elden Ring's 2022 debut. FromSoftware rarely misses when it comes to these projects.

Moving away from expansions, June 2024 has plenty to offer as well. Killer Klowns From Outer Space and Still Wakes The Deep look interesting, while June 14 features three ports that should entertain JRPG fans.

Otherwise, July 2024 is still a bit lacking in scheduled games, although Bleak Faith: Forsaken, Frostpunk 2, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak are all major releases in their own right.

Black Myth & More

Almost no games have been announced for August 2024; however, the few exceptions look pretty good. Black Myth: Wukong has been gathering steam for quite a while by this point, and the action RPG could be one of the year's strongest newcomers. Dustborn looks set to be a fun character-driven genre-blender, and Enotria could be a neat addition to the Souls-like sphere.

Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft have confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will launch at the end of August 2024. Set after the events of The Empire Strikes Back, the open-world game will tell a single-player story revolving around Kay Vess and Nix, as they try to pull off a major heist.

A sequel to Relic Entertainment's well-liked 2011 hack-and-slash game, the sequel looks set to be a great evolution from its predecessor. While the definition of niche, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 should be a decent co-op option.
