So far, Sony has been slowly revealing new information about its upcoming next-generation PlayStation 5 console one bit at a time. Last month, Sony offered a deep dive into the PS5 specs, and more recently, it pulled the curtain back on the DualSense controller. And while Sony hasn't revealed much about the PS5 since then, a recent report has shed some light on what fans can expect from the console's launch.

A report from Bloomberg has pointed to a variety of possibilities when it comes to the PS5 launch, including a possible shortage of the console's launch games. According to the report, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic may have a negative impact on the "production pipeline" for PS5 launch games. This could mean that physical copies of games will be more difficult to find at launch, though it could also be interpreted as planned PS5 launch games will be delayed.

Sony has yet to confirm its first-party PS5 launch games, but we do know that the hack and slash game Godfall will be a PS5 launch title. If the Bloomberg report is accurate, those looking forward to Godfall may want to consider the possibility that they will have to purchase the game digitally instead if they hope to play it on day one, or prepare for it to be pushed to a later date.

However, those looking forward to the PS5 may have bigger things to worry about than a game supply shortage. The same Bloomberg report has suggested that Sony has possibly scrapped its original plans when it comes to the PS5 reveal, price, and release date due to the coronavirus pandemic, and that the console may be hard to find come launch.

It's been suggested that Sony is producing less PS5 consoles than originally planned, as the company is planning on the PS5's high price point keeping it from being as widely adopted right out of the gate as the PS4. The general consensus seems to be that the PS5 price will be $499 - $549, which would definitely be a prohibitive price for some consumers, especially when one considers the current economic climate.

While this may all sound pretty grim, fans shouldn't get too worked up until they hear something official from Sony itself in regards to the PS5's launch plans. With the PS5 still aiming for a holiday 2020 release, though, hopefully some more concrete information about its launch titles comes soon.
