The PlayStation 5 is set to build on the impressive legacy of the franchise and the console looks set to be a departure from the past. Many players have been eagerly waiting for news about how games would utilize the confirmed changes for the PS5 such as the DualSense controller. It now appears that players won't have to wait too much longer to see what games are coming to the upcoming console, although it is unclear whether the games showcased will feature all of the new PlayStation 5 technology.

The first PlayStation launched in the west in 1995 and since then the consoles have gone from strength to strength. So much so that the PlayStation has become the best-selling home console franchise of all time. On the back of this, there are high expectations for the next console and a key part of the success of the PlayStation 4 was its exclusive games. Many fans expect this strategy, that encourages players to buy the console for the titles it provides, to continue in the next generation and as a result, many are keen to see what games are coming to the PlayStation 5.

Twitter user Nibel, who frequently provides gaming updates and leaks, gave inside information from the Sony Corporate Strategy Meeting. Apparently in this meeting, it was confirmed that the company "plan to introduce a compelling lineup of titles [for PS5] soon." Naturally, fans have already started wishing for particular reboots as well as new additions to franchises and it will be interesting to see what the reception the PlayStation 5 lineup gets. Many fans will now wonder how long they will have to wait before "soon" comes to fruition.

There has been speculation that Sony will hold a series of events over the next 3 months, if this is the case then players may be able to get a first look at upcoming titles as early as this June. Sony will likely release game information alongside news about the PlayStation 5 to generate anticipation for the console. With this in mind, fans should expect news about games coming to the console within the next few months.

It will be interesting to see if Sony follows a similar event schedule to that of the Xbox 20/20. Early indications that monthly events will be used to reveal new features of the PS5 suggest the direction the company is following a similar marketing strategy to the Xbox Series X.  If this is the case, many fans will be hoping Sony avoids some of the pitfalls demonstrated by the recent Xbox 20/20 event. Either way, it seems fans won't have to wait too much longer to see the first PlayStation 5 games.

The PlayStation 5 is scheduled for release holiday 2020.
