The PlayStation 5 game reveal event was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 4. However, out of respect for the Black Lives Matter protests that are happening all over the world, Sony ultimately made the decision to delay the event indefinitely. No new PS5 game reveal event date has been announced, but that hasn't stopped rumors from swirling about what exactly the event may entail.

Sony has teased that the new date for the PS5 game reveal event will come soon, but industry insiders and leakers may have revealed some of its surprises early. While fans should always take rumors with a grain of salt, some of this information comes from credible sources that have accurately leaked game industry news in the past. And if their latest information is correct, it could mean that the PS5 reveal event will be absolutely massive for fans of the horror genre.

There are at least three big horror games rumored for the PS5 reveal event, including new entries in two of the biggest survival-horror franchises ever. Whether or not they will actually be announced at the PS5 reveal event remains to be seen, but horror fans should be sure to tune in just in case.

Bloodborne PS5 Remaster

Twitter user CaseyExplosion donated $100 to charity in exchange for someone giving them information on the rumored Bloodborne PC port. However, CaseyExplosion ended up learning a lot more about the project, discovering that it's actually a full-blown Bloodborne remaster that's coming not just to PC, but to the PlayStation 5 as well. Reportedly, the remaster is being handled by QLOC, which is the studio that worked on Dark Souls Remastered.

Reportedly, the Bloodborne PS5 remaster is supposed to be announced at the PS5 reveal event. Presumably, it will address one of the original Bloodborne's biggest criticisms, which was its long load times. Considering the fact that the PS5 is 100x faster than the PS4, fans should be able to expect Bloodborne PS5 load times to be virtually nonexistent, which should make the game that much better.

CaseyExplosion also claims to know the Bloodborne PS5 remaster release date, which seems to suggest that the date will be announced at the PS5 reveal event. If that's the case, one has to imagine that the game will be a launch title or at least within the PS5 launch window. Fans of FromSoftware's work will definitely want to tune in to the PS5 reveal event to be sure.

Resident Evil 8

With Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, Capcom has been on a roll. Its premiere survival-horror franchise is reaching new heights, and the company is showing no sign of slowing down, turning Resident Evil into what is essentially an annual franchise in the process. Rumors have been swirling about what Capcom will have in store for Resident Evil fans in 2021, and while nothing has been announced, it's been leaked that the game is none other than Resident Evil 8.

More recent leaks and rumors have suggested that Capcom plans on announcing Resident Evil 8 during the PS5 reveal event. This is partly based on the fact that the entire Resident Evil franchise went on sale on June 4, the original date of the PS5 reveal event. In the meantime, leakers have revealed a lot more interesting details about what the supposed Resident Evil 8 will entail when it launches next year.

Evidently, Resident Evil 8 will be first-person, not unlike RE7, with a bigger focus on occult horror. It will supposedly be set in a mountain village, have a new playable character named Emily, and see the return of fan favorite character Chris Redfield. Whether or not any of this is true remains to be seen, but it's possible fans will find out come the PS5 game reveal event.

Silent Hill PS5 Reboot

The other big horror game rumored for the PS5 reveal event is the Silent Hill reboot. Evidently, Sony's Japan Studio is working on a full-fledged Silent Hill reboot for the PS5 that is fairly far along in development. The game is reportedly being made by the director of the original Silent Hill, and is easily one of the most exciting next-gen horror game projects that we've heard of so far. After all, the Silent Hill series has been in limbo since Konami canceled Silent Hills and split from Hideo Kojima, and so fans will no doubt be excited that a new game is finally in development. Of course, this is assuming the rumors about the Silent Hill PS5 reboot, and its planned announcement at the PS5 game reveal event, are true.

When is the PS5 Game Reveal Event?

At the time of this writing, Sony has not announced a new date for the PS5 game reveal event. However, it's still expected to take place by the end of June. Hopefully Sony makes the announcement sooner rather than later, so horror game fans can mark the date on their calendars and see if there was any truth to the leaks and rumors.
