The PlayStation 5 game reveal event was originally scheduled for Thursday, June 4. However, Sony postponed the event indefinitely out of respect for the Black Lives Matter movement. Now Sony has officially confirmed the new PS5 game reveal event date to be Thursday, June 11 at 1pm PT, airing exactly one week after the original event was supposed to take place.

Along with confirming the PS5 game reveal event date and time, Sony also revealed some other information on what it will entail. The PS5 game reveal event will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 frames per second, meaning that the games won't look quite as sharp as they would if the presentation was in 4K. This is due to production issues that Sony has experienced with its team working from home. So PS5 fans will have to wait to get their hands on the console and get it hooked up to a 4K TV for the games on display to truly be done justice.

Additionally, Sony has advised that those watching the PS5 game reveal event to do so while wearing headphones. It's teased that "there's some cool audio work in the show" that won't be as impressive when listening through computer speakers.

Sony's confirmation of the PS5 game reveal event and time comes just hours after it was leaked by a Twitch ad. While the Twitch ad spilled the beans early, it's still nice to have official confirmation so those looking forward to the PlayStation 5 can circle the date on their calendars.

This isn't the only exciting PS5 news that's come about lately. It's also being reported that Sony has started PS5 console production, meaning that the console should be on track to meet its holiday 2020 release as planned. There was some concern that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic could have pushed Sony's plans back, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Now all PS5 fans have to do is wait patiently for Thursday, June 11 to roll around. At that point they will get to see the PS5 games that will be available at launch or within the launch window, and it will definitely be exciting to see if the many rumors about the lineup are true or not.
