Anticipation for the PlayStation 5 has been building since its announcement and the recent Unreal Engine 5 showcase for the console has added to the brewing excitement. With that said, not too much is known about the games that are coming to the console and many fans are expecting more information to come to light. Fortunately, it does seem that Sony is addressing the first and third-party titles coming to the console, although there might be some small delays.

The PlayStation franchise has been incredibly successful and in most generations, it has overshadowed its competition. The fifth-generation is promising plenty of steps forward from the previous console and this was illustrated by the vastly different DualSense controller. Despite technological leaps, the previous generation separated itself from other consoles through a diverse range of exclusives, and it seems fans don't have too long to wait to see what the PlayStation 5 will deliver.

The first date that was set for the reveal of the games coming to the PlayStation 5 was June 4, but this seems subject to change. The information is said to come from an anonymous inside source, and they confirmed this specific date has been abandoned in favor of "early June." This means that there is around a two-week period where the presentation of new games may fall.

The post also claimed that Sony will be working on a State of Play event for August, but once again there was no concrete date for fans to look forward to. During this August period, more news from Sony should come to light as the company will be increasingly interacting with blogs and social media.

While there are no set dates for the highly anticipated Sony announcements, this information will give players a timeframe to work with. There had been rumors that Sony would also host a mid-July event to showcase the PS5. In this statement, there was also the confirmation of an event in June. With this in mind, Sony may be doing a series of events similar to the Xbox 20/20 events to sustain anticipation and work around the social distancing measures that many countries are enforcing during the coronavirus.

Many will be keen to see what games will be available on the next generation of consoles and although early rumors and leaks have raised concerns about games like The Last of Us 2, the last generation showed fans that Sony has plenty of impressive exclusives up its sleeve.

The PlayStation 5 is currently slated for a holiday 2020 release.
