Unfortunately, there aren't any patch notes to go along with this that might inform players on what exactly this update changes, but it's still a good idea to get it done sooner rather than later.

Whether this is fixing minor bugs or tweaking certain functions like the haptic feedback or adaptive triggers, the overall experience of using a DualSense controller should get better with this new update, even if just a little. After players update their PS5, it will prompt them to plug in their DualSense via USB to do the update.
Updating the DualSense controller doesn't take long at all, so it's in players' best interest to just knock it out before they jump back into the game. Alternatively, there is an option to have the system remind the player in 24 hours, so those that can't wait to get back to gaming can use this instead. Regardless, the DualSense will need this update eventually, so players should find time for it at some point.

These shouldn't affect the functionality of existing games in any way, but rather just provide more freedom for developers in the future. It would be nice if Sony could share patch notes when it comes to these sorts of DualSense software updates, even if they are just one liner bug fixes. No matter how small, an update always gives players hope that something new or exciting is coming, and having all of that laid out is a great way to keep communication open with fans. The DualSense is practically a game in and of itself, so there's no reason not to include patch notes when it receives updates like any other developer would.
