One of the first things revealed for Sony's upcoming PlayStation 5 console was its new DualSense controller. Boasting some rather significant upgrades when compared to the PS4's DualShock 4, the DualSense controller is designed so that PS5 games require players use it instead. However, there are still some important details that Sony has yet to share about the DualSense controller in an official capacity, but leaks have given fans some answers.

The latest PS5 DualSense leak comes from a Twitter user who says that they work for an video game hardware accessories company, though this remains unverified at the time of this writing. In any case, they posted images of the DualSense controller online, including the battery label, which reveals a battery capacity of 1560mA. As pointed out by VGC, the DualShock 4's battery life is 1000mA, and was originally just 800mA at launch. What this means is that the PS5 DualSense controller battery life is likely much better than the PS4's.

This leak matches up with another leak from a couple of weeks ago that aimed to compare the PS5 controller battery life with that of the DualShock 4. According to that particular leak, the PS5 DualSense controller battery life is about three to four hours longer than the DualShock 4's battery life. However, there may be some more factors to take into account that may potentially hurt the PS5 controller's battery life overall.

While the PS5 DualSense controller has a larger battery capacity than that of the DualShock 4, there are some other things to take into account. As previously mentioned, the PS5 controller has a number of unique features, meaning that it ultimately does more than the DualShock 4. This includes a built-in microphone as well as haptic feedback, with the latter potentially draining a lot of juice. There's also some lighting effects on the DualSense controller, though they aren't nearly as prominent as the DualShock 4's lightbar.

Ultimately, it seems to be a safe bet that the PS5 DualSense controller's battery life is superior to the PS4's. However, fans won't have a super-great idea about how the DualSense controller performs until they are able to actually get their hands on it. While it seemed as though PS5 kiosks in retail stores would have been one way for fans to try before they buy, Sony has denied that it has plans to do anything like that. It seems as though PS5 fans will just have to wait for the console to launch later this year to try the new controller.

Then again, Sony may end up selling the DualSense controller before it sells the PS5 itself. As some may recall, Sony sold the DualShock 4 controller ahead of the PlayStation 4 launch, so maybe fans can get their hands on the PS5 controller and take it for a test run sooner than expected.
