A supposed leak from @IronManPS5 on Twitter claims to know the exact date that the PS5 console design will be revealed, but is being met with skepticism. If the leak is to be believed, Sony will reveal its next generation console's design on July 7th.

For context, the reveal of the actual PS5 design is long overdue, as the Xbox Series X revealed its design much earlier this year. Even so, Sony has held on to this one bit of information for dear life. Fans seem to know every detail about what's inside the box, but not what it actually looks like.

Unfortunately, IronManPS5 didn't give any source to back up their leaked claims, simply stating that it would be revealed on the 7th of July. Most leakers at least claim where they got the information from, and the question becomes whether or not they are lying about their source, but this one neglected to do even that. Iron Man has leaked a lot of information before, although the veracity of this information is still out.

Disbelief is widespread for a couple of reasons, but the biggest one is perhaps the most troubling. There is a widespread belief that Sony will show the PS5 at tomorrow's reveal event, but this has not once been suggested or confirmed by Sony itself. Tomorrow's event is simply titled "The Future of Gaming," and has not marketed itself as a reveal event in the past. More likely than not, that will focus on new games that are coming out in a similar manner to the Xbox Series X Gameplay Preview, although hopefully with more gameplay.

Though the leak seems fake for the most part, there is some clout to it. July 7th would be about a month after the first event, give or take a few days, and it was said that Sony was planning on doing a multi-part reveal. It could be that the plan is to do this event as a gameplay showcase and then finally show off the console next month, but there is nothing other than speculation backing that up. That said, with the PS5 releasing this holiday season, Sony doesn't have much more time to hold onto this information.

There are those that think Sony's is building hype by withholding information, and this very well could be true. At every announcement the company has made, no matter how small, it has become the number one trending topic on social media sites and the like. Compare the reaction to the PS5's DualSense controller reveal to the actual reveal of the Xbox Series X console and it seems this theory has some merit.

The PS5 releases holiday 2020.
