Sony may have quietly delayed the PlayStation 5 launch in a number of Southeast Asian countries, if a change to its website is to be believed. Where the PS5 pages in those regions used to say that the console was planned for a Holiday 2020 release, they now have no mention of a potential launch.

Currently, the only country in Southeast Asia that still has the Holiday 2020 release date for the PS5 is Singapore, while all of the rest no longer see it. This includes Taiwan, the Philipines, and Vietnam, among others.

A staggered release for new consoles is not uncommon but it's strange that Sony didn't make the announcement before making the change to its website. Currently, there are a lot of gamers that are confused about whether they might be able to purchase a PS5 before the end of the year or not.

Manufacturing and parts limitations have already put a strain on the PS5 supply, which has led to some disappointing developments for gamers. For one, the PS5 is not a global launch, but will instead release in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea on November 12, 2020. Since Singapore was highlighted as one of the regions to get access to the PS5 first that likely explains why it did not see the website change.

After the November 12 launch, the “rest of the world” will gain access to the PS5 on November 19, except for China and South America. Those two areas will have to wait to find out when they will have their PS5 launch.

Presumably, the Southeast Asian countries that had their PS5 website secretly changed are now in the TBA camp when it comes to the next-gen console's launch. Most assumed that they were in the “rest of the world” category and would see the platform launch on November 19, but that may not be the case anymore.

There's no question that PS5 supply will be limited this year due to a number of factors including increased competition for key components on the console. Sony has even hinted at it being difficult to buy a PS5, which led to a pre-order situation that was anything but ideal. Many retailers simply went live with their pre-orders well ahead of the expected time, and the PS5 stock sold out very quickly. So even despite the staggered launch and potentially unexpected delays for some regions, there is a good chance that the PS5 is going to be hard to find no matter where gamers look.
