It's been less than a week since the PS5 first launched, and people from around the world have already managed to get their hands on the console. While many players have no problems with the PS5 and its library of games, some players have had gripes about the console's design. Although, a few owners are starting to customize their consoles, and the results are quite impressive.

Since the design of the PS5 was first revealed, it's aesthetic has been praised by many in the gaming community, but there are also plenty of people who didn't care for the design. More specifically, the fact that the console only comes in a two-tone white and black color scheme. However, now it seems that owners have found ways around what they deem an uninspiring design.

While the at-home designs are admirable, Sony recently forced a PS5 faceplate manufacturer to cease production and cancel orders, causing many fans to customize their PS5 units on their own. Several posts via Reddit show off some impressive and memorable designs, Such as one user that managed to Plastidip their PS5 to make it black, or another user making a Spider-Man themed design. Though, some fans have not stopped at the console itself.

One fan managed to customize their PS5 DualSense controller into a purple, space-themed design. It almost looks like the atomic purple color variant of the Game Boy Color. Some fans may not have known, but the DualSense controller actually features removable faceplates similar to the PS5 itself. This suggests that much like the PS5, the DualSense controller could be receiving customizable faceplates in the future.

In any case, the fact that these fans were able to customize their consoles in such unique ways is very impressive. What's even more stately is the fact that these fans are not only able to make their consoles look so amazing, but are actually able to one-up official companies that specialize in hardware customization. Out of frustration, one company canceled pre-orders for PS5 skins and even swore at customers.

It's amazing how these fans have taken the initiative in terms of creating something truly unique. The fact that the faceplates are removable is one of the best things about the PS5's design. Though, it seems like Sony is still in the process of figuring out how to implement customized faceplates from a business standpoint. Only time will tell if the gaming community will see any kind of officially licensed faceplates or console skins from Sony in the future.

The PS5 is available now.
