Many feared that the Coronavirus could delay PS5 and Xbox One X production, but according to this information, it seems like everything is on track. The two console developers are getting ready for a heavy-weight bout this Fall, so it's good news to know that production is where it needs to be.

next gen console wars

Sony recently delayed its PS5 reveal event in order to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard among the national protesting the death of George Floyd. Even with the health pandemic and delays or cancellation of shows, like E3 for example, Sony and the PS5 its course.

The BusinessKorea report also mentioned some various tech in the PS5, including the fact that AMD is the selected manufacturer for the console's SoC. TSMC will be manufacturing the GPU. It may come down to an arms race of specs, as the PS5 is seeking to be more powerful than the Xbox Series X.

Along with pure performance, interesting strategies may come into play with this next-gen. More rumors have surfaced pointing to the existence of Xbox Lockhart. It may be that Microsoft is working on a two-skewed plan with the next Xbox. The more powerful Xbox Series X would compete with, or maybe even out-perform, the PS5, but probably come with a hefty price-tag. Meanwhile, Xbox Lockhart, which could eventually be revealed as Xbox Series S would be a cheaper next-gen console that is less powerful and feature heavy than the PS5 or Xbox Series X, but be much more affordable.

Regardless of the strategies, the console wars, or the debates on which console could come out on top this Fall, it's nice to know (if this report is factual) that the PS5 is right on schedule with its production.

PS5 is scheduled to launch later this fall.
