PS4 players who are bored of the current controller color options will be excited to see some new choices made available again.

The DS4 hasn't always had all colors available at all times, and some PS4 players have had to search extra hard for the colors they want or settle for a color they're not very excited about. Of course, all the controllers work the same, but when a player is spending so much time with a piece of equipment, it makes sense that they want to like how it looks. And although there's a lot of online speculation about the PS5 DualSense colors, plenty of people will play on PS4 even when the new console releases.

The DualShock 4 returning colors are Gold, Berry Blue, Red Camouflage, Rose Gold, and Steel Black. The newly returned colors are available online alongside the other standard colors for $64.99. Aside from color schemes, the features and buttons on the controllers are the same, so it's really just down to player preference. Some of the colors offer a more significant contrast which may help newer players, but most people buying new controllers are likely well-versed with the parts of the controller. Some of the choices, like the metallic Gold DualShock 4, just look really cool.

The fan-favorite Berry Blue DS4 originally came out in August 2018, and returned this February for a limited time before being made unavailable again. Unfortunately its companion, Sunset Orange, is not part of this re-release. Some of the most popular LE colors were for specific games like Marvel's Spider-Man and God of War, and since those games have been out for a while now, they're most likely only able to be found on sites like eBay.

Sony recently confirmed that the DualShock 4 won't work with PS5 games, which is a big disappointment to those who are unhappy with the DualSense's design and who like their current controllers. However, the PS5 will be pricey enough that there's likely to be a significant amount of people who will still play on the PS4, at least for a while, so investing in a new DS4 isn't necessarily a financial waste.

Unfortunately, not every DS4 color is available on PlayStation's website, and it's unlikely that this will ever be the case. Some controllers, like the 20th Anniversary DS4, were for one-time events and won't be coming back. But truly dedicated fans who are willing to shell out a small fortune for the LE colors they want can comb through third-party resellers to find their favorites. For the majority of fans, though, the eleven colors available on the PlayStation website are more than enough options.
