The PlayStation 5 and its new DualShock 5 controllers may be less than a year away from launching, but that doesn't mean PS4 gamers might not need new controllers in the meantime. Sony's delivering on that demand for DualShock 4, according to a new announcement. The hardware manufacturer revealed that it's bringing back two different popular DS4 styles: the Sunset Orange DS4 and the Berry Blue DS4. These controllers are limited edition, so PlayStation fans should act fast if they want them.

The Sunset Orange and Berry Blue DualShock 4 controllers were announced for the USA back in August 2018. They appear to have been available to then in other regions, like the UK, where Sony perhaps tests out certain colors to see if they're marketable. The controllers didn't last long, however, as stock for both ran out and has remained so for quite some time.

The Sunset Orange controller is popular with fans of the Denver Broncos NFL team. The DS4 is a mix of both a bright neon orange and a deep royal blue. Its faceplate is the orange while its backplate, hand-grips, joysticks, and buttons are the blue. The Berry Blue features a similar color pattern, but instead of orange it features teal and instead of a blue it has a berry-ish purple.

Both the Sunset Orange controller and the Berry Blue controller retail for $64.99 and can be purchased directly from the online PlayStation direct store now. $64.99 is the standard price for all of Sony's non-standard black DS4 controllers. These controllers are limited in quantity and are only available in the USA and Canada. All Sony says is that the controllers will be available while supplies last.

In addition to Sunset Orange and Berry Blue, Sony currently has 12 other controllers on sale. Many of the DS4s are single-color changes like purple, blue, or metallic pink and gold. There are also several controllers with camouflage coloring. Sony may not offer as diverse a range of controllers as Xbox's custom controllers, but it's a still a good lineup.

PS4 gamers should note that rumors point to the DS4 controller being forward-compatible with the PS5. That said, some games may require the newly released DS4 back-accessory that adds additional buttons to the back of the controller. For PS4 owners willing to hold out until the end of the year, it's also rumored that the PS5's DS5 controller will be backward compatible with the PS4. PlayStation gamers looking for a new controller will have a tough decision ahead of them.

PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controllers are available now via the official PlayStation store or at various retailers.
