With the upcoming release of the PlayStation 5 this holiday season, Sony figured that now was the perfect time to reveal a secret feature of one of its past consoles, the PlayStation 2. In celebration of the PS2 turning 20 years old, Sony has revealed that the console still has secrets that some fans have yet to find.

The secret feature was announced through the official PlayStation Twitter account. It turns out that with just a simple flick of the wrist, the PS2 logo can actually be turned sideways. This feature must have been added for players who liked to stand their consoles straight up. While some players knew about the feature, it certainly wasn't widespread knowledge.

Fans reacted with shock to the Twitter post. Many Twitter users posted gifs of having their minds blown, while others posted some classic console wars memes. One particularly funny tweet compared switching the positioning of the logo to switching a monster from attack mode to defense mode in Yu-Gi-Oh.

While players are still discovering secrets in console games, it's pretty incredible that there are still secrets hidden in the console itself. It really speaks to the amount of care that Sony put into the design of the console, and will have players dusting off their own PS2s to try it for themselves.

The PS2 has long been considered one of the best video game consoles ever created. It had fantastic third party support, as well as some of the best exclusive titles of the era. Many gamers have great memories of growing up playing the console, and are still nostalgic for a number of PS2 games.

Some fans were hopeful that this post would be precursor to an announcement that the the PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS2 games. As of now it's still unclear if this will be the case. There will almost certainly be a way to play PS2 games through a digital service, like there is on the PS4. However it's unclear if the PS5 will read physical PS2 discs. If the PS5 does end up being backwards compatible, there's already a few PS2 games that gamers are clamoring for.
