This trial period begins as soon as players start the game, and users must close the application for the timer to stop. Subscribers should note that Persona 5 Royal is an extremely long game, and it can take some users more than 100 hours to finish the main story.

While the four-hour trial will give PS Plus subscribers a hands-on gaming experience, it’s probably not enough to finish the intro. The first few hours of Persona 5 Royal are filled with cutscenes, as it spends a lot of time establishing the world, characters, and gameplay mechanics. Players are given the freedom to choose their daily activities at roughly the 5-hour mark, so the day-to-day time management sim aspect may not unlock during the trial unless users skip cutscenes.

Still, it’s enough to establish the main story hook of the first palace in Persona 5 Royal and give players an idea about the various combat systems. Fans who have only played the base game will already come across some changes in Persona 5 Royal, with the new character Kasumi Yoshizawa making her introduction within the first hour. Users coming from base Persona 5 will also notice the improved frame rate and some other quality-of-life improvements present in the Royal version.

Persona 5 Royal is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
