As is typical for the E3 season, there were plenty of leaks leading up to E3 2021. Many of these leaks turned out to be completely false, whereas other leaks were actually true. One of the accurate leaks revolved around A Plague Tale: Innocence sequel A Plague Tale: Requiem, which a leaker had accurately said would be revealed at the Xbox E3 2021 event, and that it would also be a day one Xbox Game Pass game.

Resetera user Deluxera made a variety of claims about the Plague Tale games, citing a source that was apparently reliable. Besides accurately leaking A Plague Tale: Requiem coming to Xbox Game Pass, Deluxera also said that a next-gen remaster of A Plague Tale: Innocence was also in the works. That game wasn't announced during Xbox's E3 2021 event, but it has since been confirmed at the Xbox Games Showcase Extended.

This is significant for PlayStation Plus subscribers because Deluxera had said that A Plague Tale: Innocence will be one of the free PS Plus games for July 2021. Since Deluxera has been right on the money with all of their other claims about A Plague Tale, it stands to reason that they are most likely correct about A Plague Tale: Innocence being the free PS5 game for the PS Plus free games in July 2021.

What makes this even more likely is the Plague Tale: Innocence next-gen release date. It was confirmed at the Xbox Games Showcase Extended Event that A Plague Tale: Innocence will launch for next-gen consoles on Tuesday, July 6. As it so happens, Tuesday, July 6 is exactly when the new free PS Plus games will be available, with the free PS Plus games for June 2021 being cycled out for them.

Since the cat is more or less out of the bag at this point, it's a bit surprising that Sony hasn't gone ahead and confirmed A Plague Tale: Innocence as one of the free PS Plus games for July 2021. There's always a chance that it won't actually be one of the free games, of course, but assuming it is, fans can expect it to be revealed by Wednesday, June 30, as Sony usually waits until the last Wednesday of every month to reveal the next batch of free PS Plus games.

There have been times in the past where Sony has revealed free PS Plus games ahead of time, and it's certainly possible that will happen with A Plague Tale: Innocence as well. For now, PS Plus subscribers shouldn't hold their breath on getting concrete answers until June 30 rolls around.
