Every month Sony gives away new games through its PlayStation Plus subscription service, giving subscribers access to two PS4 titles and one PS5 game. Typically, Sony waits to reveal the next batch of free PlayStation Plus games until the last Wednesday of the month, meaning subscribers won't officially know what the free PS Plus games for July 2021 are for a few weeks still. However, a recent leak has been given far more credibility and has potentially revealed one of the free PS Plus games for July 2021.

The leak came from Resetera, where user Deluxera was commenting on a massive E3 2021 leak that has so far proven to be 100% accurate. One of the games mentioned in the big E3 2021 leak was A Plague Tale: Requiem, the sequel to A Plague Tale, which was announced at the Xbox E3 2021 press conference for release in 2022. Deluxera said that their sources had previously leaked A Plague Tale: Requiem and not only that, but that it would be a day one Xbox Game Pass title. This prediction turned out to be completely true.

Deluxera added that not only was A Plague Tale: Requiem coming out, but that a next-gen remaster of A Plague Tale: Innocence was also in the works. The Plague Tale: Innocence remaster has not been confirmed yet, but since the other information in the leak is true, it's much easier to believe that it exists as well. And not only that, it's also much easier to believe Deluxera's claim that the Plague Tale: Innocence remaster will be one of the free PS Plus games for July 2021.

Apparently, the next-gen Plague Tale remaster is going to be the free PS5 game for the PS Plus July 2021 lineup. Whether or not that's accurate remains to be seen, but at this point, it would be surprising if it wasn't. In the meantime, that would mean that PS Plus subscribers still need to wait for the two free PS4 games to be revealed, so they can look forward to that information coming to light on June 30, the last Wednesday of the month.

While PS Plus subscribers wait to learn more about the free PS Plus games for July 2021, they can download the free PS Plus games for June 2021. They consist of Operation: Tango on the PS5, a unique co-op game that requires both players to communicate over voice chat, as well as Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Edition and Star Wars: Squadrons on PS4. Operation: Tango and Star Wars: Squadrons will be available to claim until July 5, whereas Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will remain on PS Plus until August.
