Last month, Sony released its first PlayStation Showcase since the release of the PlayStation 5, offering players a small glimpse at some upcoming games throughout the remainder of 2021 and beyond. While a number of regulars made an appearance, such as the now critically acclaimed Deathloop, and Eidos-Montréal's soon to be released Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, all of the the biggest highlights came from new announcements. Reveals such as the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games, and the first gameplay trailer for God of War: Ragnarok surprised many fans.

From Deathloop's stellar reviews, to the latest PS5 system update, the new Midnight Black Pulse 3D Headset, and the official announcement that Demon's Souls developer Bluepoint Games has been acquired, there's a lot of exciting things happening in the world of PlayStation. With a new month just around the corner, the next round of PlayStation Plus free games are about to add even more fuel to the fire. The official announcement of next month's lineup is less than a week away, so here's all of the games we want to see on PS Plus for November 2021.

Mortal Kombat 11

A recent job listing from parent company WarnerMedia indicated that Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios might be ready to announce it's next AAA game in the near future. Rumors are hinting at Mortal Kombat 12 being next in line, followed by a sequel to 2017's Injustice 2. The news comes after an absolutely stellar year for the fighting franchise following the release of a brand new Mortal Kombat film at the end of April. Additionally, 2019's Mortal Kombat 11 has sold over 12 million copies, making it the highest selling game in the series.

Unfortunately, the inclusion of Mortal Kombat X in the PS Plus lineup for October makes the likelihood of seeing Mortal Kombat 11 in November very low. However, it's not impossible, and it's certainly a fantastic game that would make a lot of gamers excited. Mortal Kombat 11 is the concluding chapter in the reboot trilogy that began with Mortal Kombat [9] back in 2011. The game featured a time-hopping story campaign, a DLC expansion called Aftermath, new gameplay features such as Fatal Blows, and 37 unique fighters including guest characters like The Joker, Robocop, and Spawn.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Resident Evil 2 Remake

When Capcom released the Resident Evil 2 remake in January 2019, not only had it already released a top contender for "Game of the Year," it set a whole new benchmark for what modern-day video game remakes had to live up to. Based on the 1998 game of the same name, the remake swapped out fixed camera angles and tank controls for a modernized third-person shooter control scheme and an "over-the-shoulder" camera, similar to Resident Evil 4.

Set two months after the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2 takes place in Raccoon City and features the first appearance of fan-favourite characters, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Unlike the Resident Evil 3 remake which followed one year later, one of the best aspects of the game is its level of replayability through multiple campaigns. Players can choose to play as either Leon or Claire, with each campaign featuring unique locations and scenarios, as well as a second playthrough for each character after the main campaign that once again mixes things up. Resident Evil 2 is one of the best survival-horror games available and a great third-person shooter.

Resident Evil 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Three Free PSVR Games

Earlier in the month, Sony confirmed that in celebration of PlayStation VR's fifth anniversary, PS Plus subscribers would receive three free PSVR games during the month of November. With that in mind, the standard third game on the list may be replaced by three fantastic PSVR games. That would be an ideal addition to the backlog for anyone with a PSVR, or gamers that are interested in picking one up down the road considering a next-gen PSVR device is currently in development.

Developed by Sony's own first-party London Studio, Blood & Truth is a PSVR-exclusive first-person shooter that follows a former Special Forces soldier on a mission to save his family from a London crime boss.

Following Blood & Truth, the next game that should be free for PSVR is The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, another virtual reality first-person shooter but this time set in Robert Kirkman's iconic zombie-infested apocalypse. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a survival-horror game where the player takes on the role of a tourist in New Orleans who will need to scavenge items, craft weapons, and fend off brand new zombie evolutions to survive.

Finally, Marvel's Iron Man VR is a PSVR-exclusive where players assume the titular mantle of Iron Man as he comes face to face with Antman and the Wasp villain Ghost, a computer hacker and terrorist on a quest for revenge. Each of these games has pushed the boundaries for what VR titles can be, explored exciting worlds from pop culture, and offered players new experiences they can't get anywhere else.
